I have a norwegian reindeer pelt that has an L shaped hole, my last attempt in patching it I used linen thread, an issue I faced is the skin side is particularly thin, and I can't do tight enough pulls on the needle without the skin tearing/busting even more, I'd appreciate any feedback y'all might have on how I can fix this. And great video, by the way.
On a flat hide, you may have to super glue (or Epoxy) the edges and then super-glue a small/thin piece of leather over the area which of course, is on the leather side and not the hair side. A little more time consuming but does look nice and is strong. Also, for taxidermy mounts in delicate areas, glue the pieces (epoxy) together and hold with insect pins until dried. Works great and holds up for the life of the mount.
@@MikulesOutdoors I've repaired it by sewing (artificial sinew), I realized I didn't trim enough sinew off and it was too thick, and that's why it was tearing so much. Thank y'all for the advice, and if my issue is not resolved I'll revert back to this. 😀 Edit: I followed the instructions in the video and so far it's worked really well, and hasn't torn from movement.

Only takes one time to NOT do so and the Laws have changed. The society we live in is ever changing. Better to be sure and drive a point home than to ask a Judge for leniency because of ignorance or bliss. And the standard reply from a Judge is more or less: "Ignorance of the Law is no excuse".
I love their pots and pans.but i use the stainless steel stove burner covers for plates.there are 2 sizes because the burners are 2 sizes. I want their new pro series pots now with the thicker bottoms to heat more evenly.i have simular ones that i use in my home kitchen.just subbed!

Hi, bought this last night for $60.00 with 6 pouches and a double sleeping pad genuine U.S.G.I. issue as a gift.Your right about the price in comparison with a commercial civilian brand and model with a full 1000 denier cordura and a full 5000 cu inch capacity with the sustainment pouches.Most reputable brands except for Teton would be like you stated in the $300.00 and up range and that's for 30 Liter capacity on some.And the Teton models that are 3500 liters and up are still not 1000 denier cordura which is why they're not in the $300.00 plus range.Good vid,great enthusiasm,nice personality.

Only for older, cheaper, surplus gear? Do you think the boiling 200° - 212°F water breaks down the structure of that nylon gear a lot quicker than normal? That's the only thing I might worry about in this process. Would you recommend this same process with newer, higher-end, web gear or would you be more worried about prematurely degrading the structure of the nylon with the boiling water? 🤔
Good points. Always side on being cautious. However, experimentation can produce exceptional results! High end web gear should not need any such treatment. Buy exactly what you need. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and recommendations.

The spine is 0.25" thick. The steel is 420HC. Im not sure why they call it just 420. My understanding is that it's 420HC, but not with the carbon content as high as 420HC from Buck.
Just the way they type it, could be slang for everything 420 related and changes in the system.

One cup of white distilled Vinegar to the dye solution should work fine. Black dye should work fine.
